Editors' Choice Design Contest Official Rules

Official Participation Rules and Steps to Enter:

1. You must be at least 18 years old and a parent, faculty/staff member, or student at a Treering school to participate.  
2. To participate, fill out the submission form and include a screenshot of your favorite 22-23 yearbook spread and also a short paragraph (250 words max) about your school’s story. Double check everything for accuracy, especially your email and phone number (this is how winners will be notified and prizes will be distributed) and your school name and address (city and state only are fine). Incomplete entries will not be accepted.
3. Share your spread on social media via:
   1. Facebook and/or Instagram (post on both, get an automatic extra vote!)
      1. Submit the post using your personal Facebook/Instagram account or your school’s Facebook/Instagram account. 
      2. Include the screenshot of your yearbook spread in your post.
      3. Tag @Treering (Facebook) or @treeringcorp (Instagram) in your post.
      4. Use the hashtag #treeringwin in your post.
      5. Make sure this post is shared publicly so we can see it and include your submission. 
4. Submissions are due by Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 by 8 PM PT. 

Judging and Finalist Selection

Ten finalists will be posted on both our Facebook and Instagram pages by 12pm ET on Thursday, March 30th. Finalists will be chosen based on the entered yearbook layout design (5 image maximum) and storytelling ability. 

A panel of Treering yearbook professionals, graphic designers, parents, and journalism educators will select the 10 finalists. The finalists’ work will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages and the submission with the most Likes/Hearts on each page combined will win the grand prize.

After social media voting, the Editor's Choice Grand Prize Winner will be posted on our social channels and notified via email and phone on Monday, April 3. 

Editors' Choice Awards Prizes

The 10 finalists will each receive one $50 Amazon gift card and three free yearbooks. The Grand Prize Winner will receive one $500 Amazon gift card, 10 free yearbooks, and a future profile on our Treering blog. The gift cards will be sent electronically to the email provided in the form. Free book coupons will be loaded into the school's Treering Yearbook account and may be used in the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 school year.

Ownership

By submitting your yearbook spread, you have verified the approval of others pictured,  and you approve Treering to use your name, write-up,  and school name for any marketing purposes, including but not limited to showcasing on www.treering.com, sharing on social media, and sharing with media. Customer Contest FAQs

Who can submit an entry to the Editor’s Choice design contest?

Yearbook editors at current Treering schools are welcome to enter the contest. 

I’m a yearbook editor, what should I include in my contest submission?

We are looking for your favorite 2022-2023 yearbook spreads. Any design that has a funny story, best represents your school, or that you’re just really proud of.

How many entries may I submit?

If you have multiple yearbook spreads to submit, we’d love to see up to five! Heads up: you can only complete the submission form ONCE, so have all your screen shots ready at once.

What are the contest dates?

The Treering editors (teachers/school staff/parents/students over 18) contest has a submission period of March 14th to March 28th.

I’m a yearbook editor and also a parent. Can I submit entries to both contests? 

Yes! Please do! 

How does a student-created (under 18) page get entered? 

An adult teacher/school adviser must enter the student’s work for the Editor contest.

Can my submission to either contest include spread/custom pages from previous years?

We love seeing all of your designs but will only judge work from the current school year. 

How will l know if I am a finalist?

Finalists will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages! We’ll also contact each winner by email and phone.

I don’t have social media, can I still enter the contest?

You may. But please know that should you be chosen as a finalist, your pages will be posted on our social media channels.

How/when can people vote? Can non-Treering editors vote?

Voting will take place on both our Facebook (@treering) and Instagram (@treeringcorp) pages once finalists have been posted! Finalists for the Editor contest will be posted on 3/30.
